Generation Schools Network™ is a leader in launching and supporting new schools in turnaround environments. We work with school and district leaders to reorganize the resources that districts already have, particularly talent, time, and technology, to implement the first and only education model in the nation that expands learning time and reduces class size for all students in core courses in a cost effective way.
We support schools through planning, launch, and implementation of on-going training coaching and technical assistance to ensure that the new model is sustained and owned by the school and district.
Brooklyn Generation School
Brooklyn Generation School opened in 2007 on a campus described in The New York Times as “unsalvageable.” Historically, only one-third of students who enrolled at the campus in 9th grade graduated on time. Only one in ten received a Regents diploma (2001-2006).
With our first three graduating classes (2011, 2012, 2013), we have:
Increased the graduation rate. Even though 80% of students entered behind or significantly behind, the school has met and is exceeding citywide graduation averages.
Doubled the percentage of students receiving a New York State Regents diploma. More of the students – including students with IEPs – are graduating with full Regents diplomas.
90% of the students in our first three graduating classes were accepted into college.

"Cassandra St. Cyr and Niko Jemmison are shining models of the dedication and perseverance we see at Brooklyn Generation School. They have excelled academically and personally in spite of overwhelming obstacles. Like most students at the school, they come from modest backgrounds with very little support. Nonetheless, they have become clear examples of what can be accomplished with the help of Generation Schools Network and its generous supporters. Niko and Cassandra graduated in 2013. This past fall, Niko matriculated to Daemen College where he is studying Accounting, and Cassandra is studying Occupational Therapy at SUNY Rockland Community College." - Jonathan Spear, Chief Learning Officer and Co-Founder Generation Schools Network ™
West Generation Academy
West Generation Academy opened in Fall 2012. After just one year, in a long-failed turnaround campus referred to by the Denver Post as, “the worst high school in Denver,” West Generation Academy saw dramatic improvements in student performance.
Reading and Math: Quarterly assessments demonstrate that our students grew on average two grade levels in math and nearly one in literacy.
TCAP: Recognized as a high growth high school in 9th grade Reading and Writing.
Skillware Data: Reading Plus (literacy) and ALEKS (math) demonstrated a 50% reduction in the number of students 5 or more grade levels behind in math and reading.

It’s encouraging to view the 3 year trajectory of turnaround results. Learn more here.
