STATEMENT ON EQUITY

Our Commitment to Creating and Sustaining a Just and Equitable World

Generation Schools Network stands for racial equality and social justice along with Black people across the nation seeking justice for the long list of families of those harmed by the justice system. While recent protests have brought systemic racism and racialized violence to the forefront of local and national conversations, we understand these issues have existed in America since its inception.

We firmly believe black lives matter and we are committed to supporting efforts to dismantle racism in America.

As an educational non-profit, we believe that all students deserve access to a high-quality education that meets their needs and prepares them to succeed in school, work, and life. Education systems have long been used to oppress people of color and these inequities fuel our commitment to fight against racism and discrimination on systemic, personal, and interpersonal levels.

It is our continued responsibility to educate ourselves and one another, become and create allies across racial lines, hold each other accountable, and bring sustainable change into the systems in which we work. We believe that families and children should not have to fear for their safety or well-being and that every student has the right to a healthy life and a bright future.

We stand in solidarity in the fight for justice and equity. As individuals, we commit to continuing our own course of study to become increasingly racially and culturally astute. As a team, we commit to addressing instances of racism, prejudice, and inequality that we witness, and work in partnership to eliminate them. We believe that together we can create a more just and equitable world.
